Dec. 17, 1942; p. 3 BLAKE SERVICE IS HELD HERE Rites Conducted Wednesday For Long-Time Postman in Pauls Valley Services were conducted at the First Christian Church here Wednesday afternoon for Joseph Milton Blake, 74, for many years a city mail carrier in Pauls Valley before his recent retirement, who died Tuesday in an Oklahoma City hospital. Rev. Earl N. Dorff, pastor of the First Methodist Church conducted the services. Burial was in Mt. Olivet under the direction of the Winans Funeral Home with members of the I.O.O.F. lodge, in which Mr. Blake took an active part, acting as pallbearers. Mr. Blake was born in Oceola, Mo., Feb. 29, 1868 and was married on June 7, 1896 to Miss Nettie Belle Alexander. He came to Pauls Valley in 1912 and was employed in the post office until his retirement in 1933. He moved to El Reno in 1939 and had lived there since. Mrs. Blake and five children survive. The children are Mrs. H. G. Kilian, Mrs. O. G. Sibley and F. O. Blake all of Oklahoma City; Roger T. Blake of Pauls Valley and Mrs. E. A. Newman of El Reno. Twin children preceded him in death in infancy. Survivors also include ten grandchildren: Cadet Chris P. Hodgson of Lubbock, Texas, Pvt. Joe M. Hodgson of Ada, Ok., Roger Hodgson of Oklahoma City, Lt. J. L. Sibley of Dallas, Texas, Mrs. Wes Andrews of Brownsville, Texas, Donald Ray Newman of El Reno, Floydene Blake and Bobby Blake of Oklahoma City and Beverly Blake and Pearce Blake of Pauls Valley. Dec. 17, 1942; front page J. M. BLAKE, FORMER CITY POSTMAN DIES Funeral Services Are Held Wednesday Afternoon For Retired Mail Carrier Funeral services for J. M. Blake, 74, were held Wednesday afternoon in the First Christian Church with Rev. Earl Dorff, Pastor of the First Methodist Church officiating. Burial was in Mt. Olivet under the direction of the Winans Funeral Home. Mr. Blake died Tuesday morning in an Oklahoma City hospital following a brief illness. A former mail carrier in Pauls Valley, he retired in 1933 after more than 20 years active service. He came to Pauls Valley with his family in 1912 where he was active in the Woodmen of the World lodge. He was also member of the Odd Fellows and First Christian Church. Following his retirement Mr. Blake made his home here until in 1939. He and Mrs. Blake moved to El Reno where they have made their home since. Survivors include Mrs. Blake; three daughters, Mrs. E. A. Newman, El Reno; Mrs. H. G. Kilian and Mrs. O. G. Sibley, Oklahoma City; two sons, F. O. Blake, Oklahoma City and Roger T.
