OBITUARY FOR Anna Sumpter

RITES FOR ANNA SUMPTER ARE SCHEDULED HERE 1954 Funeral services
for 2:30 o'clock are scheduled at the Johnson Funeral Home Chapel
for Mrs. Anna (annie) Pearl Sumpter, 79, a resident of Pawhuska
since 1920. She died at the Hospital on Saturday night.

Mrs. Sumpter, a member of the Assembly of God Church, was born
on August 23,1875 in Kansas. She was married to John Elias
Sumpter in Oklahoma Territory, Okla City, Okla. on June 7,
1894 and the couple moved to Pawhuska in 1920. Mr. John Elias
Sumpter preceded his wife in death in January of 1941. One son,
Fred Sumpter, died at Bartlesville in May of this year in a house fire.

Survivors include:Two sons: Elias E. "Polly" Sumpter of Konowa,
Okla., and Louis Sumpter of Bartlesville, Okla.: three daughters:
Mrs. Madaline Mason of Okla. City,Okla.,Mrs. Earnestine Leadford
of Pawhuska, Okla., and Mrs. James( BELLE) Gullett of Wynona. Two brothers:
Moses Criss of Stockton, California and Ira Criss of Stockton, California.
Sisters: Mrs. Grace Borzark of Oakley, Illinois.,and Mrs Iva Elithorp
of Lindsay: 35 granchild. Burial will be in cemetery at the side of her son,
Fred Gullett, with the Johnson Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

OBITUARY FOR Lewis Casper Sumpter

Obit for LEWIS CASPER SUMPTER, 84 , area resident for 47 years, died
at 7:20 am Saturday in Jane Phillips Medical Center where he was a patient for
four days. Funeral services will be 2pm tureday in the Sanctuary of the Tuxedo
Assembly of God Church. Rev Joe Calabrese will official. Interment will be in
the Memorial Park by the Arnold Moore Funeral Service.

Sumpter was a native of Okla and was born during indian territory days at Sallisaw
on March 12, 1895. The family moved during his youth to tuttle where he was reared
and received his education. He managed a cotton gin at Sallisaw for two years and
managed the sallisaw light and power plant for two years. He and the former Miss
Sena Woodard were married on Nov. 12, 1916 at Franklin, Okla. And they lived on
a far near Franklin, Okla until they moved to Okla City and later to Pawhuska, Okla in
1920. He farmed in the oglesby community until 1970.

Survivors in addition to his wife, Mrs. Sena W. Sumpter of the home , include six sons,.
Earl R. Sumpter, Fort worth, Tex: Irvin L. Sumpter, Bartlesville, Okla.: Dearl E. "Rusty"
Sumpter, Albany, Oregon: Clarence O. Sumpter, London England, Elmer L. "Red" Sumpter,
Ramona, Okla. And Carl E. Sumpter, 2500 SE Washington Blvd: four daughters: Mrs.
Bob G. (Pearl) sumpter Ford, 3801 Limestone, Mrs Leo (Mearle Virginia) Sumpter Davis,
Reno, Nev.: Mrs. Floud L.(Wanda ) SumpterJack, Bartlesville and Mrs Vernie E. (Margaret)
Sumpter Russell of Tulsa, Okla: 27 grandchildren and 20 great grands, two Mmrs Belle
Forrest Sumpter Gullett of Hominy, Okla. And mrs Ernestine Sumpter Leadford, Pawhuska, okla.

OBITUARY FOR Naomi Sumpter

Mrs. Naomi Sumpter dies: rites Saturday 1962

Mrs.Charles (Naomi)Sumpter, 67, 1214 E. 14th Street,
died at the Pawhuska city Hospital Thursday following a
lengthy illness.

Mrs. Sumpter, was born at Keukuk, Indian Territory,
Okla. on December 20, 1894 and was the daughter of Robert
and Emma Avery. She was married to Charles Sumpter at
Blanchard, Okla. on Jan 1, 1914. The family moved to
Pawhuska in 1919.

Mrs. Sumpter was a member of the First Baptist Church.

Survivors include her husband: charles Sumpter of the home:
and six sons: Luther Sumpter and Deck Sumpter of Pawhuska,
Okla. Roy Sumpter of Wichita, Kansas, James of Ralston, Okla.
Paul Sumpter of Santa Maria , California: and Dee Sumpter of
Avalon, California. Also, six daughters: Tommie Carson of
Amarillo, Texas, Johnnie Tancey,Bartlesville, Okla.,Winona
Cole of Houston, Tx.,Anita Smith of Tulsa, Okla.,Betty Wood
of Arkansas City, Kansas, Jeannie Christie of Wichita Falls,
TX. Also three sisters: Mrs. Jessie Dixon, of Okla. City,
Okla.,Mrs. Ollie Harris, Seattle, Washington, Mrs. Mina Harris,
Seattle, Washington. There are 25 grandchildren and seven
great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be conducted at the Johnson Funeral home
at 4 pm Saturday with the Rev. W. Dean Rainwater in charge.
Burial will be in the Pawhuska City Cemetery, Pawhuska, Okla,
Osage County.
