Tuley Sr. Graveside services for Tommy R. Tuley Sr., 77, of Davis were April 19 at Hennepin Cemetery, with the Revs. Ron Langenbacher and Johnny Beckmon officiating. Tuley was born Dec. 28, 1924, to John W. and Eula (Seawright) Tuley in Ravia and died April 16, 2002, at Pauls Valley General Hospital. He worked part-time for the postal department while attending Wynnewood High School. At the age of 18, he moved to California and on May 30, 1944, he joined the U.S. Army. He served during World War II until being honorably discharged May 11, 1946. During this time, he earned the Asiatic Pacific Campaign Medal, the WWII Victory Medal and the American Campaign Medal. Tuley returned to San Leandro, Calif., after his discharge and was employed as superintendent of Mountain View Cemetery in Oakland, Calif. He married Ruth Verna Kopp on June 22, 1974. In 1980, they moved to Davis. He loved hunting, fishing and teaching his children to love the same. Tuley was also a great "Rock Lapidary" enthusiast. He was a member of the VFW and International Order of "Trench Rats." He is survived by: his wife of the home; three sons, Tommy Ray of Davis; David and Robert, both of San Lorenzo, Calif.; a daughter, Kathleen Hatmaker of Davis, and three sisters, Almeta Ray of Davis, Roxie Darlene Wingo-Donaghey of Ada and Barbara Sue Stokley of Morris. He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Everett and Arnold. Krien Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
