(Dutch) Ward Lindsay News, Lindsay , Garvin County, OK Feb 5, 1974 Funeral services were at 2 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 2 in the Calvery Baptist church for Raymond Andrew “Dutch” Ward, who died Jan. 31 in the Lindsay Municipal Hospital. He was born June 10, 1904 in Erin Springs, Indian Territory, the son of the late Frank G. and Ida Virginia (Patrick) Ward. He attended the Lindsay schools and would have celebrated the 50th anniversary of his graduating class this spring. He was a gifted athlete and excelled in both football and baseball. He attended OSU and received his degree at Central State university, Edmond. He began his lenghty teaching career at Hughes and later taught at Dare, Lindsay, Alex, Washington, Antioch, Hawkins, Garvin Springs, Criner, New Hope, back to Lindsay, Erin Springs, Dare and in 1969 he retired after a term at Dibble. he had also served on the Lindsay City Council. A student of history, especially Oklahoma history, he was curator of the Murray-Lindsay Mansion the past five years. He was married to Margaret Harris, May 14, 1932at Stratford. He was a member of the Lindsay Lions Club. He was a charter member of the Calvary Baptist Church and served as a deacon, and has been active in its entire program. Survivors include his wife Margaret of the home at 802 W. Chickasaw; one son , Raymond Patrick Ward of Tulsa; one daughter Mrs. Louanne Ward of Yukon, two grandchildren, Lance Patrick Ward and Louise Carole Ward; two sisters Mrs. Mable Garrett of Oklahoma City and Velma Lou Barnhill of Lindsay. Active pallbearers were Jimmy Ross, Johnny Baker, Vic Cacy, Bill Burford, Bob McMurtray, and Jim Brown. Honorary pallbearers were Harry Moore, John Lynch, and Bill Vandiver. Interment was in Green Hill Cemetery with the Brown-Boydston Funeral home in charge of arrangements.
