This page is dedicated to the memory of these two wonderful,
kind-hearted and loving people, my Grandparents, who came from
Evening Shade, Arkansas in 1919 by way of covered wagon,
seeking a better life for themselves and their many children.
They found many years of happiness surrounded by family
and friends in the small town called Elmore City.
They lived long and fulfilling lives, never asking of anyone
and always giving. May they rest in peace.

This poem was written by Miss Lorene Lynn, of Elmore City, OK. About her brother Euylass Washington Lynn, when he left to serve his country in World War II. He went into the service on February 12, 1941
He served in the 45th Infantry
Part of the poem was torn off, and when I asked her to remember it, so I could reconstruct it, she remembered it word for word.
Lorene and Euylass are the children of:

Lorene is my Mother
My Soldier Brother
By Miss Lorene Lynn, Elmore City,
Route 2
And out of the station
Did my soldier brother go
And when he began to leave,
He said, I hate to go.
But Mother I will dearly love you,
No matter how far I go.
Today he is my soldier brother
And somewhere in Italy he does serve
He is with the 45th division
He has really got the nerve
Like all of the soldier boys
Who serve far away
There is a soldier brother like mine
Who is stationed far away too.

Early 1941
House where C. W. and Lorene LYNN Burleson lived when they first
married.
It was a one room cabin and had a dirt floor, located on West Lee Street
at the end of McClure on the North side of the street.
