Madison Cemetery is located in Beaver County, Oklahoma Latitude 363906N & Longitude 1000515W. To find this cemetery, turn North from Highway 3 at the Slapout Co-op service station/convenience store. You will drive North for 2 miles, turn East and go 1 mile, Turn North; go 1/2 mile follow the curve of the road to the East and continue 1/10th mile.
Madison Cemetery is an old cemetery, considering that Oklahoma didn't become a state until 1907. This cemetery has never been catalogued before. In the 1870s & 1880s, prior to the creation of the Cherokee Strip, this cemetery was used as a burial ground for ranch hands back when ranchers leased land from the Indians. There are graves that have never been documented in this cemetery. For now, the information you will find the is the name, birth and death date of individuals buried. When I have more time, I will finish this file by adding the inscription on tombstones, a description of the stone shape, type of material the tombstone is made of, and the condition of the tombstone.
The South section of the cemetery is the oldest. Tombstones are not lined up in straight rows, so the for now, row designation is my own. The earliest death date on a tombstone is Mar 9, 1891.
