The town of Charleston, founded 1901, was named for Charles J. EILERTS. It was located at Sec.10 T27N R21W; east of Buffalo, OK the county seat. The Post Office was located in a general merchandise store which EILERTS owned. EILERTS was appointed postmaster of Charleston, Harper Co., OK on 18 May 1901. As of 1909, Charles J. EILERTS was still running the store. The town ceased to exist in 1920.
