Services for former Seminole county
resident are scheduled for 1:00 PM Thursday, April 1,
2010 at Arbeka United Methodist Church, Okemah with Rev.
Paul Fixico officiating and assisted by Rev Dave Long
Jr. and Rev Abe Jackson and interment at TUKVPVTCE
Methodist Church Cemetery.
Wake Services will be 7:00 PM Wednesday at Arebka United
Methodist Church at Okemah.
Pallbearers will be Virgil Harjo, Wilson Harjo,
Arharlock Buckley,Sam White, Woody White, Mike Harjo,
and Mihe- Coby Chibitty.
Honorary Pallbearers will be: D.J. Stephenson, Chebon
Tiger, Noah White, and J.B. Smith.
Opal Nanetta (Coachman) Harjo
passed away Monday, March 29th, 2010, at the age of 50
years
in Tulsa, OK. She was born April 9, 1959 in Claremore,OK
to Joe and Nettie (McCullar) Coachman. She graduated
from Butner High School and attended Northeastern
College for 2 years.
Opal was a member of Arbeka United
Methodist Church, Okemah and was adopted into the Ponca
and Kiowa Tribes. She loved to be the head cook and
spend time with her family and friends. Her
grandchildren were the love of her life. She loved
singing the Native songs.
On October 25, 1985 Opal and
Vincent Mike Hajro were married in Okemah and to this
marriage seven children were born.
Preceding Opal in death are her
parents, son Chris Harjo, and two sisters Mary Helen
Coachman,and Helena Tartsah.
Survivors include: Husband Vincent
Mike Harjo, sons and their wives: Tenetke C. Harjo and
wife Nuzz of the home; Wilson Harjo and wife Birdy of
Prague; Virgil Harjo and wife Faye of Shawnee; D. J.
Stephenson and wife Kristen of Anadarko; daughters Mikka
F. Harjo and husband Jerrod of the home; Jerrie L. Harjo
of Prague; Deedra Tainpeah of Norman; seventeen
grandchildren and -six great-grandchildren; sisters Pat
Coachman of Earlsboro; Cindy Tainpeah and husband Ray of
Paden; Margaret Battiest of Jenks; Penny Cleghorn,
Apache; brothers Donnie Simpson and wife Linda of
Wilson; Frank Coachman, Okemah; extended family Rev
Thomas Roughface of Ponca Tribe; Rev Charles Quztone of
Kiowa Tribe and Richard Tartsah Sr. of Kiowa Tribe.
