Funeral Services for former Seminole
county resident Vincent "Mike" Harjo are scheduled for
1:00 PM Monday, February 21, 2011 at Tekvpuce Methodist
Church, Holdenville, with Rev. Paul Fixico, Rev. Alvin
Deere, Rev. Joe Lowe, Rev. Abraham Jackson, and Rev.
Dave Long Jr.Wake Services
will be 7:00 PM Sunday, February 20, 2011 at Tekvpuce
Methodist Church. The body will be taken to the Church
at 3;00 PM Sunday afternoon.
Mike was born in Seminole, OK
April 14 1947 to Wilson and Josephine (Yarbrough)
Harjo.He departed this life Wednesday, February 16th,
2011 in Glenpool, Oklahoma at the age of 63 years.
He was a graduate of Varnum School and received a
Bachelor of Science in Theology from Southern Methodist
University.
He entered the Ministry at OIMC, serving twenty-two
years. Prior to his death he was minister at Honey Creek
Methodist Church. He served in the US Navy during the
Viet Nam conflict and was a member of the Ocese Band.
Mike enjoyed his prayer warrior
society, gospel singing, beading gourd dancing, and
spending time with his family and grandchildren.
He married Opal Coachman October
25, 1984, she precedes him in death March 31, 2010.He is
preceded in death by his Fathe, son Christopher Harjo,
brothers George Harjo and Jumbo Harjo.
Survivors include Mother Josephine
Harjo, Seminole: Sons Wilson C. Harjo of Prague, OK,
Vincent Mike Harjo II of Seminole ,Ok, Virgil Harjo and
wife Faye of Shawnee, Tenetke Harjo and wife Neccettia
of the home; Daughters Jerri Lynn Harjo of Cushing, OK,
Dedra Tainpeah of Norman, OK, and Mikka Harjo of the
Home; Brothers Stanford Harjo of Seminole, OK, Lucien
Harjo of Shawnee, OK, and Frank Coachman of Okemah, OK;
Sisters Delores Haynes, Deborah Pennock, Sherry Harjo,
and Cindy Mitchell all of Seminole, OK, Pat Coachman of
Earlsboro, OK, and Cynthia Tainpeah, husband Ray of
Paden, OK, eldest brother Don Simpson and Linda of
Wilson, OK
His adopted families include
Francene Biggoose family of Ponca City, Charles Quetone
family of Lawton, Tom Roughface family of Ponca City,
Ernestine Hernessey family of Carnegie, OK Brother Tom
Ware of Anadarko. Twenty one grandchildren, Ten
great-grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews and a
host of other relatives and friends.
