Cabbage Grown near Ringling
MRS. V. T. NEWCOMB, who resides two and one-half miles
northwest of Ringling, was in town Tuesday exhibiting
some of the finest and largest cabbage heads that were
grown in this section. She has about 500 heads in the
patch and they will average four and three-fourths
pounds. .. This is an excellent demonstration of which
can be raised in this county.
County-Wide Growers Meet in Waurika
Next Saturday afternoon, June 1, there will be a county
wide meeting of the cotton growers in Waurika
The
committee in charge of the meeting: A. O.WOOD, C. DALE,
H. R. BEAVERS and A. C. BURGER.
Obit for TOM WILMOTH
TOM WILMOTH, who has been in ill health for the past
years, died at the family home in Ringling, last Friday
morning at 1 p.m. He was 49 years old. MR. WILMOTH is
survived by his wife, MRS. MINNIE WILMOTH, and five
children, MRS. C. A GLASCO of Pruitt City, ETHEL WILMOTH
who is attending school at Durant, IVA, RUBY and GEORGE
WILMOTH of Ringling. All the children were at the
funeral. He is also survived by his mother, MRS. G. W.
WILMOTH, and sisters, MRS. FRED TURNER of Lone Grove,
MRS. LON RISNER of Lone Grove and MRS. GEORGE POTTS of
Madill. Interment was made in the Odd Fellows Cemetery
Saturday with REV. H. A. LONGINO conducting the services.
Ringling Wins from Ardmore
The Ringling ball club opened play Sunday afternoon at
Fair Park in Ardmore by scoring two runs in the first
inning, and thereby gaining a lead that was sufficient to
defeat the Ardmore Tigers 4 to 4. This was the first
defeat of the season for the Ardmore club and left them
tied with Marietta for first place in the league. A
double by D. DULLA, a single by HARRELL and a base hit by
G. BULLA netted the Ringling club an early lead. D. BULLA
came to the rescue of his team in the seventh inning with
a single, followed with another single by HARRELL, a
sacrifice, a hit baseman, a walk and a sacrifice by BILL
WALLACE and Ringling ended the scoring with three runs,
Ardmore threatened to score in the eighth and ninth but
could not launch the drive at the proper time.

WADE HARVELL, who is employed at Bristow, spent a few
days at home this week.
Mr. and Mrs. ERNEST HARVELL of Bristow visited here this
week.
Mr. and Mrs. A. L. MEARS and children of Wilson visited
in Ringling Sunday.
MISS GERTRUDE POPPLEWELL who is attending school at
Durant spent Sunday with her mother MRS. G. M. FORD.
VICTOR WALLACE is here from Shawnee where he has been
attending school.
MRS. S. G. ASHBY and son, FRANK, of Norman were in
Ringling to visit with MRS. RUFUS STALLINGS of Asphaltum.
Mr. and Mrs. J. T. TRIMBLE and daughter DIMPLE of Duncan
were visiting old friends here Monday.
Mrs. DAVE. K. SPRADLING returned Sunday from visiting her
mother MRS. I. B. CLIFTON in Waurika.
MRS. NAYDENE LECONTE of Ardmore visited her mother MRS.
GEORGE A. SONRICKER here.
ROBERT COTTON is visiting Ringling before returning to
Wewoka.
MISS OUIDA JACKSON, MISS CORINNE BEAN and MISS LOUISE
RICKETTS were shopping in Ardmore.
SHERIFF FRANK DRISKELL was here on business.

New Preacher Sunday
REV. C. E. PAINTER of Lawton will fill the pulpit at the
Baptist Church here next Sunday
MISS HILMER FOSTER, MISS ALMA FOSTER and MISS BESSIE
FOSTER, all of Oklahoma City, visited HANNAH ASBY this
week.
Last Friday, Mr. and Mrs. LUTHER HIGHTOWER entertained
with a six oclock dinner in honor of MISS MILDRED
HIGHTOWER and MISS GENE JOHNSON of Loco and MISS FLOSSIE
FLUSHER of Okfuskee. There girls were students at Edmund
this past year.
KEMPER-WILMOTH
J. S. KEMPER, age 36, and MISS IVA WILMOTH, age 29, both
of Ringling, were married last Sunday at the home of REV.
B. A. LONGINO, who read the marriage vows. The couple
will make their home in Ringling. MISS ETHYL and MISS
RUBY WILMOTH were present at the wedding.
A. E. LAMBERT Wins the $25 First Monday
A very large crowd attended Ringlings First Monday
and A. E. LAMBERT of Orr won the $25 in cash that was
given by the business men. D. L. MCLAIN was the lucky man
at the Thomas Cash Store and was given a $20 gold piece.
E. A. SMITH received $5 in cash from the F. & M. Cash
Grocery. Hamm Grocery gave away five prizes in order as
follows: T. J. CREEK a 32 piece Blue Bird Dinner Set; W.
R. FLOYD $2.50 sack of Chic O Line Dairy Feed; J.
BRAMLETT a 48 pound sack of Loud Speaker Flour; W. R.
FLOYD 1 pound of Red Rose coffee and MRS. G. B. STOWE 2
pounds of candy. The Service Grocery gave away six prizes
listed as follows, W. A. MCLAIN 100 pound sack of Chic O
Line Egg Mash; BILL ANDERSON 48 pound sack of flour; MRS.
BOB CAMPBELL one half gallon of comb honey, V. L.
SOUTHERLAND, 17 pounds of sugar, D. J. TAYLOR 1 pound of
candy and J. J. MCLAIN, 1 package of merchandise.
Obit for WILEY J. DICKEY
Funeral service for WILEY J. DICKEY, age 65, a resident
of Southern Oklahoma for more than 45 years, was held at
3:00 Sunday afternoon at Bettes Funeral Chapel in
Ardmore, DR. CRAYTON S. BROOKS, pastor of the Ardmore
Christian Church, conducted the service and interment was
made at Rose Hill cemetery. MR. Dickey died at the family
home near Ringling last Friday morning at 10:00. He was a
native of Georgia and moved to Oklahoma in the early
days. He is survived by his widow, MRS. B. M. DICKEY,
four sons, BERNICE and ERNEST of Ringling and ERB and JIM
of Lubbock, Texas; six daughters, MRS. AUDREY ISHER and
MRS. BLANCHE CRUMP of Wichita Falls, MRS. CLARA GREEN of
Lubbock, Texas, MRS. EUNICE WILLIAMS of Shawnee, MRS.
MOLLIE ALTA ELLIOTT of Carlsbad, New Mexico, MRS. PEARL
BELL of Hale Center, Texas, his mother MRS. MOLLIE DICKEY
of Chickasha, three sisters, MRS. MILDRED WILSON of
Ardmore, MRS. CARRIE BOGUS of Dallas, MRS. ELLA ROACH of
Chickasha, and two brothers LON DICKEY of Lone Wolf and
JOHN DICKEY of Shawnee. He is also survived by four
stepchildren, MRS. G. B. COURSIER, MRS. LEONARD WILLIAMS,
MRS. SAM BLACKBURN, and JESS MAYRANT.
$3300 Damage in Lone Grove
Last Friday night, three buildings containing a filling
station, a grocery store, a lunch room and a barber shop
and the post office were completely destroyed by fire of
unknown origin at about 3 p.m. with an estimated loss of
$3300. The grocery store operator was the only one
carrying insurance. The blaze was said to have started in
the back of the filling station where JOE CANNON lived.
His family was visiting in Lindsay at the time and he
narrowly escaped being burned to death.
4 Arrests Made in 4 Raids
County Sheriff FRANK DRISKELL assisted by his deputies B.
E. ADAMS, W. M. BASS, and JOHN MASSEY made four raids
during the weekend. Arrested: BOB EPPERSON, FRANK ROWE,
Mr. BOWEN and his son
