Melon and Truck Growers Meet
On Sunday afternoon, the melon growers of this township
met in the Fisher Hall which was their regular meeting
day. After the reports were made, the organization
elected E. Y. HELDRITH as the organization grader,
inspector, and salesman, this is a position which takes a
great amount of experience and study of which Mr.
Heldrith has had both. The organization instructed their
secretary, MR. ROGERS, to order at once the Blue Book
which gives ratings of all responsible dealers.

MISS SALLIE WILSON visited friends in Petrolia, Texas.
W. L. MULL and daughter MISS FLORENCE are visiting
friends and relatives in Bowie, Texas.
MISS VERA ROGERS of Decatur, Texas is the guest of her
uncles family, J. E. ROGERS.
ROYAL SQUIRES of Henrietta, Texas is visiting his brother
L. H. SQUIRES and his family.
Terral 13 Ringgold 1
Sunday evening the Terral baseball team defeated the
Ringgold team on the grounds at Ringgold to the tune of
13 to 1. The feature of the game was the twirling of FRED
BRANTLEY letting Ringgold down with one hit.
MISS COTNER Passes Away
MISS FAY COTNER of Waurika was laid to rest Monday at
Waurika. Miss Cotner, who had been attending the Normal
school at Ryan, was sick only a short time. Last week,
she was taken hurriedly to Lawton where an operation was
performed for appendicitis. After the operation she was
thought to be improving, but took a sudden turn for the
worse. Miss Cotner was a young lady of high attainments,
having graduated with high honors from the high school at
Waurika last spring. Miss Cotner has many friends in
Terral and Jefferson County who mourn her untimely
demise.
Hastings Has a New Paper
Vol. 1, No. ! of the Hastings Herald was a visitor on our
exchange table this week. H. E. BANNER, formerly of this
city, is at the helm. The Herald is a 7 column folio, a
neat and ably edited paper.

Deputy Sheriff Killed at Grant
Hugo, Okla. July 5--DEPUTY SHERIFF R. L. CARES of Hugo
was shot and killed by J. G. SPARKS at Grant Friday
afternoon. Sparks is said to have been intoxicated and
was walking about town with a pistol only partly
concealed in his pocket

MORGAN POOLEY is confined to bed with typhoid.
HOSEY CATES, who has been living in Ryan, has returned
home.
On Monday, while plowing for WILL GRIFFIN, EARL CROW
drove one of J. J. RAMSEYs fine mules into a well
35 feet deep. The mule was killed; this is one of the
mules that cost Mr. Ramsey $250 each.
BILL SMITH Takes a Shot at I. M. JETT
Monday evening, BILL SMITH took a fancy shot at I. M.
JETT of Fleetwood. This is an old difference that has bee
running for two years. They met in Fleetwood and had some
words that led to the shooting, no one was hurt and Bill
took to the tall uncut timber. Mr. Jett swore out a
warrant for his arrest and he surrendered to officers at
Waurika.
Ships First Car of Peaches
On Tuesday night, the first car of peaches ever shipped
from Terral was shipped by W. G. WOOD, consigned to the
Wester Produce Co. The peaches were the famous Elberta
and were raised by M. TROUT on his farm east of here. Mr.
Trout says he will be able to ship two more cars. The
first car sold for 50 cents a bushel.

J. S. VANDERBURG Markets First Bale
Monday, J. S. VANDERBURG sold the first bale of 1912
cotton that was sold in Jefferson County and trying with
JOHN WALLING for state honors.
From the Oklahoman: J. S. VANDERBURG of Terral claims the
first bale of Oklahoma cotton this season. The cotton was
ginned Monday morning and was bought by A. B. BARBER. The
price was 16 ½ cents and the premium was $81.35. From
Temple: What is believed to be the first bale of Oklahoma
cotton of the 1912 season was brought to Temple Monday
morning by JOHN WALLING. Richardson and Parker ginned the
cotton and paid 12 cents with a premium of $50.
HARRISON-HARPER
MRS. LAURA HARPER of this city and MR. C. L. HARRISON of
Fort Worth were joined in the holy bonds of matrimony at
the home of the brides mother, MRS. M. P. CLARY.
The ceremony was performed by REV. A. M. BROWN. The bride
is one of Terrals most popular and accomplished
ladies. The groom is business man in Fort Worth
They left Monday for their future home in Fort Worth.
LUCE-HILL
Miss VELMA HILL and Mr. FRANK LUCE, of this city, were
joined in holy bonds of wedlock Thursday night, both
young people are well known in this community and the
Tribune joins their many friends in wishing them a long
and happy life. The wedding was set for Tuesday but when
the young man went to Waurika to procure the license, he
overlooked the fact that his bride-to-be was only 16
years of age and he had to return home empty handed, on
arriving home, he immediately procured the necessary
permit from the young ladys mother and after some
very trying experiences and long waits, they were married
Thursday night at the home of the bride.

MRS. GORDIE EWING entertained a number of little folks
Tuesday afternoon, in honor of her daughter, PATSYs
12th birthday.
Mr and Mrs. W. B. FISHER and family left Tuesday for a
visit to Mr. Fishers parents at Ada; they will make
the trip by automobile.
HARDEN WILLINGHAM left Tuesday for Vineyard, Texas.
MISS THELMA SOLMAM, who has been the guest of MISS SWEET
BON, returned to her home at Nocona.
On Monday, an Auto Party of young people of Ryan,
chaperoned by MISS NELL COTTON and JOE GUEST, were
sightseers of Terral.
MISS LULA DUFFEL, who is employed on the Tribune, is
spending the week with her sister, MRS. C. O. CROW, in
Albert.

CATES-CLARY Nuptials
Sunday at 7:30 p.m., MR. DELLCATES and Miss JESSIE CLARY,
both of this city, were married at the home of the
brides mother, MRS. M. P. CLARY, REV. A. M. BROWN,
officiating. Only the closest relatives and friends were
present: Mr and Mrs. O. E. BARNETT, MRS. ALBERT MITCHELL,
MRS. W. L. HILL, MISS JENNIE SMITH, MISS LINNIE SMITH,
MISS LOIS HILL, WILL ALLEN, LEO ALLEN, and FRED BRANTLEY.
The bride is the daughter of Mrs. M. P. Clary and has
been reared in this city and is a most accomplished young
lady and is one of Terrals society leaders. The
groom is the son of Mr and Mrs. G. E. CATES and a young
man of sterling worth and steady habits. The bride and
groom will make their permanent home with her mother.
CHAMBERS-SPILLMAN
Last Thursday Mr. GEORGE CHAMBERS and MISS ONA SPILLMAN
of Portales, New Mexico were joined in the bonds of
wedlock. The couple arrived in Terral Friday for a short
visit with friends and will make their permanent home in
Ryan.
HALE-CRUMP
Sunday morning at 10:00, REV. BROWN spoke the words that
made J. R. HALE and MISS SALLIE CRUMP man and wife. The
young coupler reside at Wrays Chapel and are among the
popular young people of that community. The young couple
will make their home at Wrays Chapel.

MISS MAMIE RAYBORN left Saturday for Hastings where she
will teach school.
MISS ETHEL REAGAN of Temple, Texas was the guest of MISS
EULA MAE BRANTLEY Sunday.
UNCLE JIM BETTY of Lancaster, Tennessee was the guest of
T. C. MCKINLEY and family last week.
O. C. WALKER shipped a car of hogs to Fort Worth and they
were accompanied by CLARENCE BUSH.
VIRGIL SESSUMS, formerly of this place, has a position at
Okarche.

Terral Public School will open next Monday Oct 7th at
9:00. Every pupil is requested to be there the first day.

DAVIS-DERRICK
Sunday, Grandpa CAMPBELL pronounced the words that made
LEE DAVIS and MISS ALMA DERRICK man and wife. These young
people reside near Fleetwood and have many friends in
that community. The Tribune joins them in wishing for hem
a long life of happiness.
New Agent at Depot
F. A. MOORE, who has been agent at the Rock Island depot
for the past three months, has been transferred to
Irving, Texas. He has been succeeded by J. C. ALLEN of
Tulsa.
REV. BRAD HAYS, Baptist missionary, spoke at the Baptist
Church Thursday night.

DEAN STRONG, who ahs been in Cement for the past year,
returned home Sunday.
MRS. ALBERT MITCHELL went to visit friends and relatives
in Waurika.

of the A. M. BROWN family here.
LEE REYNOLDS, who is employed in the Rock Island freight
service in Fort Worth, visited his parents here.
MISS VIRGIE CROMWELL of Ringgold, Texas was the guest of
her sister, MRS. M. C. CROMWELL here.
Wrays Chapel News
Well, Ways Chapel is not dead yet. MRS. LANING and
children, C. A. WALDRUM and family, Mr. MORGAN and wife
spent Sunday with J. M. BELL.
Cotton picking is the order of the day.
The singing at BUCK RATLIFF Sunday night was a good one.
MRS. LANING and children are visiting the family of C. A.
WALDRUM this week.
JIM HALL and wife returned from Newport, Texas where they
have been visiting his parents.
MISS MAZZIE TIMBERLAKE and MISS PAT KIZER were shopping
in Terral Tuesday.
A party was given at Mr. CRUMP Tuesday night, with a
large crowd
