This was the original Waurika High School. In a storm, the top
story and the cupolas were destroyed. My mother graduated from this
school. At some point a new high school was built elsewhere in town and
this was renamed Hillcrest Elementary School. My sister and I attended
grade school at Hillcrest. In the 1960s a new
school was built elsewhere, and this one was torn down. The bricks were
bought by a local doctor and his wife, Hal and Mary Ellen Foster Rosier,
and they built a house in this same spot, using the bricks.
