LeRoy Vest, 86, of Knot Hole, passed away Monday, Sept. 2, 2002. He was born
Nov. 29, 1916 in Poteau to Jesse T. and Pearl Dona (Barnes) Vest. He married
Retha C. Thomas in 1938 in Fort Smith. They moved from Poteau to Knot Hole
and the Fair Hill community in 1979. LeRoy worked for Klutts Construction
Company for many years and retired from the Oklahoma State Corporation
Commission in 1984. He was a past Worshipful Master of the Poteau Masonic
Lodge.
He was preceded in death by his wife in 1997; a son, Ronnie Lee Vest; and
one sister, Juanita V. Camp.
Survivors include one son and daughter-in-law, Gary D. and Linda L. Vest of
Knot Hole; two granddaughters, Shauna M. (Vest) Johnston and husband Brian
of Tulsa and Jo Ellen Vest-Harris and husband Charles W. of Colorado
Springs, Colo.; one cousin, Kathrine Cameron of Poteau; and a host of other
friends and loved ones.
Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 5 at Fair Hill
Cemetery in Cameron with the Rev. Phil McGehee officiating, under the
direction of Grace Manor Funeral Home of Poteau.
Honorary pallbearers will be Glin Green, Don Ed Self, Ray Pierce, J.R.
Pierce, Kip Klutts and Dusty Klutts.
