^1. Double Branch Missionary Baptist Church organized on the banks of Double Branch Creek 1870. It was the eleventh church of the Baptist denomination in Oklahoma. Vaughn Cemetery is associated w/ the church. Seven of the thirteen charter members of the church bore the name of "Vaughn". Listing of charter members. The community was known as late as 1920 as "Vaughn Settlement." The church had a large bell whose tones could be heard for miles around. A certain man rang the bell, his job, when a person died, when a grave was to be dug by the men of the community, for the hour of Sunday School and vaious other activities about which the community should know. ^2.WILLIAM MOSES HOLLAND was pastor of the Double Branch church in 1882 while it was a member of the Concord Association. He probably continued in that office the next year, for he was it's pastor in 1884 when it helped to form the Short Mountain Baptist Association. He still held that office in 1885.
