Clarence Beachem

POCOLA — Clarence "Lightning" Beachem, 75, of Pocola died Friday, Feb. 28, 2003, in a local hospital. He was an Army veteran during the Korean War.

Funeral will be 12:30 p.m. Wednesday at Union Baptist Church in Pocola with burial at U.S. National Cemetery in Fort Smith under the direction of Rowell-Parish Mortuary of Fort Smith.

He is survived by four daughters, Ollie Lee of Fort Smith, Aurelia Beachem of Pocola, Almetia Mannings of Orlando, Fla., and Shirley Beachem of Florida; a son, Clarence Jr. of Fort Smith; two stepsons, Marvin and Malcolm McFerren, both of Spiro; four sisters, Lula Holmes, Medora Allen, Elzora Massey and Barbara Lee, all of Pocola; 10 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Duran Delt, Gerald Beachem, Steven Taylor, Alvin Green, Ricardo Thompson, Joe Massey, Earl Shepard and Mark Gordon.
The family will visit with friends at 404 Clark Avenue in Pocola.
