PANAMA — Bobby Lowell Butler, 49, of Panama died Sunday, Sept. 29, 2002, in Paris. He was born Dec. 22, 1952, in Spiro. He was a roughneck with Thornton Drilling, a member of the First Baptist Church in Panama and formerly in the Army National Guard, Poteau unit.

Funeral will be 10 a.m. Tuesday at First Baptist Church in Panama with burial at New Hope Cemetery in Spiro.

He is survived by two sons, Brandon and Brent Butler, both of Panama; his mother, Sylvia Russell of Panama; two sisters, Lois Berg of Mena and Mary Plummer of Poteau; five brothers, John Butler and J.C. Ahart, both of Buckner, Mo., Steven Butler of Kansas City, Mo., and James and Joe Butler, both of Fort Smith; and one grandchild.

Pallbearers will be Al Monks, Rick Hall, Cecil and Larry Lovell, Timmy Watts and Vonnie Miller.

Bobby Lowell Butler, 49, of Panama, passed away Sunday, Sept. 29, 2002, in Paris, Ark. He was born Dec. 22, 1952 in Spiro. He was a roughneck for Thornton Drilling and worked in the petroleum industry. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Panama and formerly served in the Army National Guard, Poteau unit.

He was preceded in death by his father, Robert Butler; three brothers, Benton, Charles and Reuben Butler.

Survivors include two sons, Brandon Butler and Brent Butler, both of Panama; one grandson, Eugene Butler of Panama; his mother, Sylvia Russell of Panama; two sisters, Lois Berg of Mena and Mary Plummer of Poteau; five brothers, John Butler and J.C. Ahart, both of Buckner, Mo., Steven Butler of Kansas City, Mo., James Butler and Joe Butler, both of Fort Smith; friends, Annette, Bonnie and Amanda Stone of the home; numerous nieces and nephews, other relatives and loved ones; and a host of beloved friends.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 1 at First Baptist Church of Panama with the Rev. Scott Lester officiating. Burial will follow in New Hope Cemetery in Spiro under the direction of Evans & Miller Funeral Home of Poteau.

Pallbearers will be Al Monks, Rick Hall, Cecil Lovell, Larry Lovell, Timmy Watts and Vonnie Miller.
