The Daily Oklahoman Oklahoma City, Oklahoma November 15, 1911 Citizens Save Talihina Fort Smith, Ark. Nov 14 (Special) - A portion of the city of Talihina, Okla. narrowly escaped destruction about 8:30 tonight when a barn belong to R. H. Chowning, containing 2000 bales of hay and a large quantity of farming implements was destroyed by fire. Six hundred persons formed a volunteer department and prevented the flames from spreading. Yesterday the home of Edgar Miller, three miles south of Talihina, was destroyed by fire entailing a loss of $10,000. Information posted as courtesy to researchers.
