Gladys Clem

SPIRO — Gladys Wren Clem, 94, of Spiro died Wednesday, July 10, 2002, in Fort Smith. She was a member of Spiro First Baptist Church for more than 70 years and a member of Women’s Missionary Society and volunteered at Spiro Senior Citizen Center.

Funeral will be 10 a.m. Saturday at Spiro First Baptist Church with burial at Spiro City Cemetery under the direction of Mallory Funeral Home of Spiro.

She is survived by a daughter, Nancy Campbell of Fort Smith; two sons, Jack Wren of Garner, N.C., and Roy Wren of Niceville, Fla.; a sister, Vera Stratford of Spiro; 10 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Enie Tobler II, Gerald Blankenship, Stearl Nelson, Bill Greenwood, Galen Sullins and John Redwine II.

The body may be viewed at the funeral home, where the family will visit with friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday.


Gladys Wren Clem, 94, of Spiro, passed away Wednesday, July 10, 2002, in Fort Smith. She was born Feb. 17, 1908 at Ardmore to Rulee Washington and Minnie (Hines) Pitchford. She was a homemaker, a member of Spiro First Baptist Church, a devoted Christian for over 70 years, a member of Women's Missionary Society and volunteered at Spiro Senior Citizen's Center.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Delomar Clem; her first husband and father of her children, Roland Wren; one daughter, Margaret Delores Wren; two sons, James L. and Charles E. Wren; one sister, Eula May Dedmon; two brothers, Bo and Claude Pitchford; and one grandson, Mark Wren.

Survivors include one daughter, Nancy Campbell of Fort Smith; two sons, Jack Wren of Garner, N.C. and Roy Wren of Niceville, Fla.; one sister, Vera Stratford of Spiro; 10 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.

Family will visit with friends Friday, July 12 from 6 to 8 p.m.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, July 13 at the Spiro First Baptist Church with the Rev. John Flanagan officiating. Burial will follow in Spiro City Cemetery under the direction of the Mallory Funeral Home of Spiro.
