Oklahoman Killed in Mena, Arkansas

Desertion and Abduction Charged To Him

Mena, Ark., Sept 20 (Special) Lee E. Davis, 25 years old, a son of James Davis of Talihina, Okla., was shot and instantly killed by John Ross, veteran deputy sheriff, today, when it is alleged, Davis was attempting to abduct Ross' 15 year old daughter, Velma.

Davis is said to have deserted from Camp Bowie, Texas, eight days after his arrival there following his induction into the military service. Since his alleged desertion he had been hiding in the southern part of Polk county.
