Dovie
Eugenia Estep, 84, of Shady Point, passed away Friday, Nov. 15, 2002, in
Fort Smith. She was born May 1, 1918 at Foreman, Ark. She was married to
the Rev. E.L. Estep for more than 50 years; 35 years she spent at Shady
Point. She also worked at the Shady Point School from 1967 until her
retirement in 2000. She was a member of the Shady Point Assembly of God
Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband on Dec. 7, 1991; a twin sister,
Lovie Carrell; and one brother, Willie Akins.
Survivors include two daughters, Florence Peters of Sallisaw and Louise
Skinner of Cameron; one son, James Estep of Shady Point; two brothers,
Cecil Akins and Johnny Akins, both of Foreman; seven grandchildren,
LaJeanna, Jack, John, Michele, Jason, Chris and Curtis; 14
great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; numerous nieces,
nephews, other relatives and loved ones; and a host of beloved friends.
Services were at 10 a.m. Monday, Nov. 18 at Assembly of God Church at
Shady Point with the Revs. Joe Owen and C.M. Carey officiating. Burial
followed at Shady Point under the direction of Evans & Miller
Funeral Home of Poteau.
