State Drowning Victims Found

Atoka - Johnny Hilder, 37 year old Oklahoma Cityan boating on Lake Atoka, drowned Monday while trying to swim back to his disabled motorboat after swimming to shore for a nail to substitute for a broken propeller pin.

He was the first drowning victim in the lake's history. Dragging for his body was underway late Monday night.

The bodies of two eastern Oklahoma drowning victims were recovered Monday at Wister and Sand Springs.

The body of Stan Gregory, 46, of Poteau, was recovered from Caston Creek one half mile southwest of Wister. A LeFlore County Sheriff's spokesman said he had been missing two or three days on a fishing trip.

The body of David Tracy, 7 year old son of Mrs. Dorothy Tracy of Tulsa, was recovered 14 hours after he drowned in the Arkansas River near Sand Springs while on a family outing.

Two other holiday drowning victims were Archie Morton, 40, Broken Arrow, and Willie Mae Moon, 12, Okmulgee. They drowned Saturday.
