Ocie Evelyn (Ollar) Millard, 87, of Fort Smith went to her heavenly home on July 25, 2003, almost a year to the date following a debilitating stroke.

She was a retired beauty operator and a member of First Baptist Church. She was born Oct. 18, 1915 in LeFlore County to John William Ollar and Edna Maybell Garner Ollar. She was preceded in death by her parents, 10 brothers and five sisters.

She was the 16th child in a family of 18 children. She had 10 brothers and seven sisters, all living to adulthood. Hers was a farming family, and in those days everyone helped even if it meant going to the field at a very young age or staying at the house and watching the younger ones.

Although mom had to quit school in the eighth grade, she was an avid reader and she eventually became a licensed practical nurse and worked for Dr. Earl Woodson in his hospital in Poteau for years after her marriage to C.O. Millard.

Mom and dad eventually moved “up north” on Highway 71 to Fort Smith where she had a beauty shop in her home. She obtained her beautician’s license from Jean Kirby Beauty College in Fort Smith.
In her later years, mom enjoyed working in her yard among her flowers and she also enjoyed quilting with her baby sister, Eunice Cast of Wister.

She loved and served the Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and is now with him in heaven.

She was “Great-Great” to her grandchildren and great-grandchildren and loved them all.

“Great-Great” we’ll miss you. You’ve been such an inspiration to each of us — Your Loving Family.

Funeral will be 1 p.m. Tuesday, July 29, 2003, at Edwards Funeral Home in Fort Smith with burial at Roselawn Cemetery in Fort Smith under the direction of Edwards Funeral Home.

She is survived by two daughters, Julia Mitchell and Susan Cia, both of Fort Smith; one son, Dr. C.W. Millard of Flower Mound, Texas; two sisters, Eunice Cast of Wister and Alta Tiffee of California; grandchildren, Chris and Laurie Mitchell of Mentor, Ohio, James and Patty Mitchell of Fort Smith, David Mitchell of Oklahoma City, David Millard of Wichita, Kan., Jeff and Kim Millard of Houston, Shawn Cook of Fort Smith, Gena and Kevin Jackson of Spiro, Julie and Don McClendon of Fort Smith and Kevin and Jackie Ketterman of Portland, Ore.; great-grand-children, Clinton, Rachel, Leah, Benjamin, Travis and Sarah Mitchell, Brittany and Bryan Myers, Tyler and Alyssa Millard, Lindsey and Skyler Cook, Cody Arnold, Gwen, Brian and Brad Jackson, Stacey and Gary Stacy, Dakota Reed, Haiden O’Brian and Payton, Mason and Keyta Ketterman.

Pallbearers will be David and James Mitchell, Shawn Cook, Don McClendon and Kevin and Brian Jackson.
