Cura Louise Newcomer was born in Heavener on March 7, 1909 to Ben and Mary Bridges. She married the love of her life and high school sweetheart Lee Newcomer on Dec. 23, 1928.

This union was blessed with a baby daughter, Mary Louise who preceded them in death as an infant.

They were also blessed with two sons, Johnny Lee and wife Carol of Jacksonville, Fla. and Tommy Don and wife Ann of Heavener.

She was a very proud and loving grandmother to her grandchildren, Sean Newcomer, Scott Newcomer and wife Krystal, Jeff Newcomer and wife Jennifer, Steve and Jenna Newcomer and Kristen Terry and husband Cody; and to her great-grandchildren, Kaleb, Shae and Kamren Newcomer, Dallas and Bryson Terry and Brandi and J.T. Newcomer. She is also survived by a brother, John Bridges of Tulsa. 

She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Heavener where her services will be held on Saturday, May 10 at 2 p.m.

 

Cura Newcomer, 94, of Heavener, passed away Thursday, May 8, 2003, at Fort Smith, Ark. She was a lifelong resident of Heavener and a member of the First Baptist Church.

Survivors include two sons, Johnny Newcomer of Jacksonville, Fla. and Tommy Newcomer of Heavener; one brother, John Bridges of Tulsa; six grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

Services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, May 10 at First Baptist Church in Heavener. Burial will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery at Heavener under the direction of Dowden Funeral Home of Heavener.
