Ruth Simmons, 91, of Alma died Monday, Aug. 18, 2003, in Pocola. Mrs.
Simmons was born Jan. 13, 1912, in Mountainburg. She was a lifelong
resident of Crawford County and a member of Alma Heights Missionary
Baptist Church. Mrs. Simmons was preceded in death by her husband, Dewey
Simmons, a son, James Simmons and a grandson, Ricky Simmons.
Funeral will be 1 p.m. Thursday at Ocker Funeral Home Chapel in Alma
with burial at Peters Cemetery in Mountainburg.
She is survived by a daughter, Norma Hance of Pocola; a son, Darrell
Simmons of Fort Smith; 11 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren and
three God children.
Pallbearers will be Paul Meadows, Bill Cole, Ron Southall, Jason Taylor,
Aaron Jones and Steve Swires.
Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Alma Heights Missionary
Baptist Church.
The family will visit with friends from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral
home.
