Johnnie P. Smith, 87, of Heavener, passed away Wednesday, March 12, 2003, in Fort Smith, Ark. He was a longtime resident of Heavener, a veteran of World War II, a member of the Heavener Christian Church, and had retired from the LeFlore County Highway Department District No. 3. He enjoyed camping. He was preceded in death by his wife Elsie; and one daughter, Anita. Survivors include one daughter, Barbara Fortney of Bartlesville; one son, J.P. of Lone Grove; two sisters, Elzoria Owen and Earline Greco, both of Ardmore; three grandsons, Terry Pickle of Elgin, Ill., Kenneth Pickle of Heavener and Michael Pottinger of Wister; four great grandchildren, Jared, Kendra, Ryan and Tayler Pickle. Services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, March 14 at the Heavener Christian Church. Burial will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery at Heavener under the direction of Dowden Funeral Home of Heavener. |
