James Wynne Vaughn, 73, of Wister, passed away Friday, March 7, 2003, at Fort Smith. He was born April 25, 1929 at Wichita Falls, Texas to Lee and Pearl Vaughn. He was a veteran serving in the Navy for eight years and retired from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development in 1978. He was a member of the First Methodist Church of Wister, the Masonic Lodge of Poteau, the Scottish Rite of McAlester, Order of the Eastern Star - Chapter 311, the American Legion Post 305 of Wister and the Lake Wister Association. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend. He gave of himself toward the betterment of his family and community and will always be remembered with the deepest love and admiration. Always in our hearts, your love has been a blessing to all. 

Survivors include his wife, Ina Ruth Vaughn of Wister; two daughters and one son-in-law, Leah and Sid Spencer of Heavener and Reba Vaughn of Topeka, Kan.; one son, Martin Vaughn of Heavener; five grandsons, Caleab Spencer, Erik Villagran, Che Vaughn, Wade Spencer and Jon Vaughn; one granddaughter and grandson-in-law, Amanda and Bret Arnett; three brothers, Lee Vaughn of Wister, Jerry Vaughn of Heavener and Jack Vaughn of Santa Marie, Calif.; three sisters, Bobbie Sewell of Wister, Imogene Coleman of Abilene, Texas and Patsy Lewosky of Santa Marie; and a large extended family and many loving friends. 

Services were held at 10 a.m. Monday, March 10 at the United Methodist Church in Wister with the Rev. Robert Thompson officiating. Burial followed at Mountainview Cemetery in Glendale under the direction of Evans & Miller Funeral Home of Poteau. 

Pallbearers were Erik Villagran, Che Vaughn, Wade Spencer, Jon Vaughn, Brett Arnett and David Vaughn.
