Poteau News
Poteau, LeFlore County, Oklahoma
Thursday, Feb. 15, 1934

"Uncle Al" Hopkins, popular resident of Poteau, died at his home here Wednesday afternoon at four o'clock, following an illness of several months duration. 

Mr. Hopkins was born in Guntown, Miss., February 24, 1860, coming to Poteau in 1889. With the exception of short period, during which he resided in Waldron, Ark., he as made his home in Poteau since that time. He has engaged in various lines of business, and was a kind, agreeable, gentleman, and numbered his friends by his acquaintances.

Mr. Hopkins is survived by his wife, Mrs. Laura Hopkins, two daughters, Mrs. W. M. White of Coleman, Texas and Mrs. J. M. Summerall, of Village Mills, Texas, 11 grandchildren, four brothers and four sisters. Funeral service will be held at his home in Poteau, Thursday afternoon, at three o'clock, with burial at Oakland Cemetery.
