J.D. Mize, 80, of Poteau, passed away Wednesday, Sept. 18, 2002. He was born April 17, 1922 in LeFlore. He was a farmer and mechanic.
He was preceded in death by his wife Lillian (Long) Mize; two brothers, Lee Mize and Albert Jack Mize; one granddaughter, Rhonda Potter; a daughter-in-law, Joyce Mize; and a companion, Evelyn Scott.
Survivors include six sons and daughters-in-law, Roy and Wanda Mize of Whitesboro, Ted and Sue Mize of Purcell, Bill and Linda Mize of McKenzie, John David and Debbie Mize of Poteau, Kenneth and Aileene Mize of Blocker and Bobby and Cindi Mize of McAlester; three daughters and sons-in-law, Wilma and Jack Eslick and Wanda Perkins of Poteau, and Joyce and Mike Hill of Wister; three brothers and sisters-in-law, Flint and Linda Mize of Tennessee, Ted and Kathy Mize of Arizona and Jerry and Delia Mize of Louisiana; four sisters and brothers-in-law, Beatrice and Bill Long of Keota, Winifred and Mason Ivey of Whitesboro, Josephine and Avid Ray of Edmond and Rose Lea and Ron Keltner of Roff; 25 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and loved ones; and a host of beloved friends.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Friday, Sept. 20 at Evans Chapel of Memories in Poteau with the Rev. Jimmy D. Cook officiating. Burial will follow in
Whitesboro Cemetery under the direction of Evans & Miller Funeral Home of Poteau.
Pallbearers will be Shane Mize, Richard Jarman, Donnie Potter, Justin Mize, Brook Mize and Daniel Monks.
Honorary pallbearers will be Harvey Mize, Jimmy Hickman and Brian Hancock.
