George W. Pipkins, 81, of Pocola, passed away Monday, Dec. 2, 2002, at
Fort Smith. He was born Feb. 23, 1921 at Pocola. He was a member of
Christian Grove Free Will Baptist Church in Pocola. He farmed all his life
and was owner and operator of Pipkins Store in Pocola for approximately 25
years.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Annie; twin daughters, Ethel and
Bethel; and his parents, John Albert and Rachael (Gill) Pipkins.
Survivors include seveb children, Jimmy Pipkins, Jay Pipkins, Gail Kay
Pipkins, Johnny Pipkins, and Jane Damato, all of Pocola, Patricia Ogden of
Pocola/Talihina; and Wanda Pipkins of the home; one sister, Gladys Karl of
Pocola; five grandchildren, Alicia O'Connell, Michael Pipkins, Niki Petit,
Marcus Pipkins and Timmy Damato; four great-grandchildren, Krista, George
Michael, Austyn Ann and Mitchell; numerous nieces, nephews, other
relatives and loved ones; and a host of beloved friends.
The family will be at the funeral home from 5:30 to 7:30 pm Thursday,
Dec. 5 to visit with friends and relatives.
Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Friday, Dec. 6 at Christian Grove
Free Will Baptist Church at Pocola. Burial will follow at Macedonia Cemetery at Pocola
with the Revs. Gene Thomas, Dr. Gary Thomas and Jim Waldrop officiating,
under the direction of Evans & Miller Funeral Home of Pocola.
Pallbearers will be Bob Sykes, Billy Sykes, Charles Pipkins, Jonathan
Pipkins, Tom Pipkins, Aaron Pipkins, Larry Williams and David Pipkins.
Honorary pallbearers will be Hank Karl, Dale Brigance, Ike Dugan, Pete
Stottsberry, Josh Smith, Stan Gray, Rex Lokey, Gary Davis, Phillip Morris,
Greg Smith and Steve Evans.
