Anthony Christopher Raunikar, 38, of Poteau, passed away Sunday, Sept. 22, 2002. He was born Aug. 24, 1964 at Hartshorne to Paul and Patsy Raunikar. He married Kasondra Battershell on May 10, 1997 in Marshall, Ark. He was of the Catholic faith and a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Wilburton, a member of the Lions Club in Poteau, a member of the Oklahoma Optomeric Association and a graduate of the College of Optometry at Northeastern State College in Tahlequah. He had a practice in both Wilburton and Poteau.
He was preceded in death by his paternal grandfather and maternal grandfather.
Survivors include his wife of the home; two daughters, Madeline Rose Raunikar and Amelia Grace Raunikar, both of the home; his parents of Wilburton; paternal grandmother, Mary Raunikar of Wilburton, maternal grandmother, Della Christopher of Adamson; two brothers, Ronald Raunikar of Madison, Wis. and Laurence Raunikar of Wilburton; two sisters and one brother-in-law, Tammy and Mark Roye of Wilburton and Theresa Raunikar of Los Angeles, Calif.; one nephew, Jared Roye of Wilburton and two nieces, April Roye and Jill Roye, both of Wilburton.
Rosary/Wake service will be at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 25 at the Waldrop Funeral Home Chapel with Father Chris Daigle officiating.
Mass of Christian burial will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 26 at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Wilburton. Burial will follow in the Elmwood Cemetery in Hartshorne under the direction of Waldrop Funeral Home of Wilburton.
Pallbearers will be Dr. Kelly Watkins, Dr. Randy Ennen, Dr. Lance Brown, Michael Berryhill, Dr. John Rauniker and Nils
Raunikar.
Honorary pallbearers will be Ronald Raunikar, Laurence Rauniker and Mark Roye.
