Phillip H. Simpson 67, of 610 North Witte St. in Poteau OK. died on June 29, 2000 in Tulsa OK. He was born in Henry County on June 11, 1933.

He was a member of First Baptist Church in Poteau where he served as Deacon and Sunday School Director. He Was Retired At The Time Of His Death.

He is preceded in death by his parents R.D. and Margaret McGehee Simpson and one brother, Alfred.

He is survived by his wife, Marie of the home; three daughters, Phyllis Renfroe of Jackson, TN, Becky Frost of Bolivar TN and Laura Lawless of Bartlesville, OK; one son Mark Simpson of Yukon OK, one sister Peggy Simpson of Poteau OK; two granddaughters, seven grandsons and one great granddaughter.

Services were held at 2:00pm on Saturday July 1, at First Baptist Church in Poteau with buried in Poteau.

POTEAU — Phillip H. Simpson, 67, of Poteau, formerly of Tennessee, died Thursday, June 29, 2000, in a Tulsa hospital. He was an employee of Goodyear Tire Company based at Turman-Pierce Tire Company. Later he worked for American General Life Insurance Company and Country Boy Furniture. He was a member, deacon and Sunday School director at the First Baptist Church in Poteau.

Funeral will be 2 p.m. today at First Baptist Church in Poteau with burial at Oakland Cemetery in Poteau under the direction of Evans & Miller Funeral Home of Poteau.

He is survived by his wife, Marie; three daughters, Phyllis A. Renfroe of Jackson, Tenn., Becky M. Frost of Bolivar, Tenn., and Laura M. Lawless of Bartlesville, Okla.; one son, Mark L. Simpson of Yukon, Okla.; one sister, Peggy J. Simpson of Poteau; nine grandchildren, Suzanne, Phillip and Carl Frost, Jenny and Adam Lawless, Micah and Josh Renfroe and Robert and Stephen Simpson; and one great-grandchild.
