Lena Ruby Thirkill, 86, of Talihina, passed away Monday, Feb. 3, 2003, in Arkoma. She was born June 19, 1916 at Howe to Steve Humphreys and Willie Smith-Humphreys. She was married to William George Thirkill in May 1940. Lena loved to fish and enjoyed living in Talihina. She always loved attending the Tiger ball games. She loved her church, her family and especially her grandchildren. She was a member of the Valley Christian Church and lived in Talihina most of her life.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; one sister, Hazel Dukes; and one brother, Snooks Humphreys.
Survivors include one daughter and son-in-law, Willesta "Woody" and Rosco Yates of Arkoma; one granddaughter, Tammy and Teddy Parker of Alma, Ark.; two grandsons, Tim Yates and Todd Yates, both of Arkoma; one brother-in-law, Allen Dukes of Talihina and one sister-in-law, Audrie Humphreys of Whitesboro; as well as numerous nieces, nephew; and a host of friends.
Services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 6 at the Valley Christian Church with the Rev. Gary Fuller officiating. Burial will follow at
Old Talihina Cemetery under the direction of Talihina Funeral Home.
Pallbearers will be Charles DeWeese, Jim Young, Timmy John Young, Tony Young, Philip Humphreys and Larry Fields.
