Edwina Lynn
        February 01, 1832 - January 02, 2006

Edwina S. Lynn, 73, of Poteau, Oklahoma, passed away Monday, January 2, 2006 after a short illness. Ms. Lynn was born in Poteau, Oklahoma, on February 1, 1932, to Edward and Truppy (Parks) Sanders. She attended Douglas High School, Spiro, Oklahoma. She attended Langston University from 1950 to 1953 and graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in English. In 1976, she completed her Masters degree in guidance and counseling from East Texas State University. She was married to Isaac Lynn on August 8, 1955. Ms. Lynn, a long time educator taught school for many years. She began her teaching career at Spiro School in 1953. She taught in Tuskahoma, Oklahoma, Lathum, Oklahoma, Fort Knox, Kentucky and after a brief stint with Texas Instruments, she began teaching at Wilmer Hutchings High School in Dallas, Texas. In 1987 she moved back to Poteau, Oklahoma and began teaching high school English at Poteau High School in 1989. In 1990 she became an adjunct professor at Carl Albert State College where she worked until her death. She was preceded in death by her parents.

She is survived by ex-husband, Isaac Lynn of Dallas, Texas; a daughter, Lisa Madlock and husband Wylie, of Poteau; a son, Ricky Lynn of Akron, Ohio; two grandsons, Brandon Choice of Poteau, and Omeyell Steele of Fort Coffee, Oklahoma; one great- grandchild, Kaddon Choice; two sisters, Doris Blaine of Poteau, Dr. Letha See, PhD., and husband Col. Wilburn See, of Maretta, Georgia; two special nephews, Jerry Johnson and wife Linda, of Norman, Oklahoma and Terry See and wife Linda, of Naperville, Illinois, great nieces, Donelle Johnson of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, and Taylor See, Jasmine See, and Jordan See of Naperville, Illinois and a host of cousins and friends. Pallbearers will be Wylie Madlock, Bob Thompson, Jerry Johnson, Joey Ezell, Terry See, Sterling Warren and Richard Smith.

Services will be at Mt. Calvary Baptist Church, in Poteau, Saturday, January 7 , 2006, at 11:00 AM with interment following at Oakland Cemetery, with Pastor Jerry Jennings officiating. Family will visit with friends for viewing on Thursday, January 5, at 5:00 PM at the funeral home. Services under the direction of Grace Manor Funeral Home of Poteau.

 

 
Isaac C. LynnIsaac Cleveland Lynn, 80, of Dallas, TX, passed away August 13, 2009, in Poteau. He was born October 31, 1928, in Pittsburg, TX, to Bobby and Sammie David (King) Lynn. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and a retired farmer.

Isaac was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Edwina Lynn, four brothers, Jonathan, Joseph, David and Preston Lynn and a sister Pinkie Fluellen. He is survived by a son Ricky Lynn of OKC, OK; a daughter Lisa Choice of Poteau, OK; a grandson Brandon Lynn Choice; great grandson Xavior Lynn Choice; three brother Jacob Lynn of Kansas City, MO, Anderson Lynn of Lake of the Pines, TX, John Lynn of Dallas, TX; two sisters Bobbie Ruth Lynn of Red Oak, TX, Icer Ruth Lynn of Longview, TX; and as well as a host of nieces, nephews and other family members, friends and loved ones.

Pallbearers will be Sterling Warren, Bob Thompson, Brandon Choice, Jerry Johnson, Terry See and Shawn Walton.

Services will be at 10:30 AM, Wednesday, August 19, 2009, at Mt. Calvary Baptist Church, Poteau, OK, with Pastor Yvette Devine officiating. Interment will follow service at Ft. Smith National Cemetery at 1:00 PM. The family will greet friends Tuesday, August 18, from 6 to 8 PM at the funeral home. Grace Manor Funeral Home of Poteau will be conducting the services.
