Edmond attended school near his home in Iowa and was a student at the Axline Academy two terms. After his father's death, Edmond remained at home, assisting his mother in the care of the farm until 1873, when he migrated to Clay County, Nebraska where he entered into a timber claim. When the tree farm failed, he filed for homestead.

Edmond married Sarah Helen Ingham, daughter of Benjamin Isham and Elizabeth (Hyde) Ingham, of Brighton, Washington County, Iowa 7 September 1875. Sarah Helen was the born January 28, 1852, the daughter of Benjamin Isham and Elizabeth (Hyde) Ingham. They had seven children; Carrie Elizabeth (1878 - 1906), John Elmer (1878 - 1968), William "Billy" Albertus (1880 - 1975), Edward Ingham (1881 - 1974), Dennis Alvin (1884 - 1960), Howard Hull (1886 - 1975), Nettie Merle (1889 - 1889) and Emmett Thomas (1892 - 1935).

In 1888 in Clay County, Nebraska, Edmond was a county supervisor. He and his wife, Helen, lived in Nebraska until 1893 when they moved to Lincoln Co., Oklahoma settling near Agra about 8 miles southwest of Cushing.

In Lincoln County, Edmond was a member of the school board and township committee and was Justice of the Peace before being elected to the Constitutional Convention of Oklahoma from Agra, District 21. He was a farmer and carpenter and belonged to the Ancient Order of United Workmen. He was an active worker in the Republican party, a member of the Farmers' Alliance and a member of the Methodist Church.

Edmond died June 24, 1915 and buried with Helen, who died in 1940, in the Flynn Cemetery northeast of Agra.
