STEWARD/STEWART 
Family Bible Record

The following information was taken from an Old Bible belonging to the parents of M.C. (Mack) Stewart of the old community of Oswalt, north-west of Marietta, in Love County Oklahoma. This bible is owned by Kleo (Stewart) Loving (Mrs. Olen), Ringling, OK. as of June 20, 1997. Mrs. Loving is the daughter of M.C. and Mary Alice (Tucker) Stewart.

6. Maxie Uvelda Steward - born Pike, Indian Territory 11-17-1906
7. Edwin Everette Steward - born Lalanda, New Mexico Terr. 4-28-1908
8. Cleo Fay Steward - born Pike, Oklahoma 4-20-1911
9. J.D. Steward - born Oswalt, Oklahoma 4-26-1914

Note the about family name spelled Steward - however, the earlier record of M.C. Steward's family was Stewart. The family of M.C. Stewart, dropped the d on their last name and used t instead.

M.C. Steward & Miss Mary Alice Tucker married at Eastman Community in what was later Love County October 5, 1890 in the presence of M.M. Tucker, and Lue (Louisa) Lewis Tucker. Signed by J.R. Holland and this all in color. M.M. stands for Marion Montgomery Tucker. The two Tuckers were Mary Alice's parents. They were murdered on February 6, 1895 about one mile east of the Eastman Cemetery on the west ridge of the large hill. M.C. Stewart was the son of William Calvin Steward and Elisabeth (Gibson) Stewart of Collin Co. Texas and earlier of Giles Co. Tennessee. M.C. and his wife, the Tucker parents, and M.C.'s father William are buried in the Eastman Cemetery. William Steward's wife Elizabeth (Gibson) Steward died on October 15, 1885 and is buried in the Bethesda Church cemetery near I-35 not far from Joshua in Johnson County, Texas.

The above was taken from 20th Century Edition of the Self-Pronouncing Bible --belonging to the parents of M.C. Stewart. Published by American Publication Society, 1701 Chestnut St., Philadelphia, Pa., Copyright 1903 by A.J. Holman & Co.

There is another Bible belonging to the parents of M.C. Stewart- Literature, History and Inspiration of the Holy Bible prepared expressly for the People's Standard Edition

by James P. Boyd, L.B., & A.M., entered according to Act of Congress in the year 1872 by Ziegler & McCurdy in the Office of the Library of Congress at Washington D.C.

The above bibles are presently - June 20, 1997 in the hands of Kleo (Mrs. Olen) Loving, at Ringling OK., sister of J.D. Stewart of Newkirk, Oklahoma and daughter of M.C. (McAlonie) and Mary Alice (Tucker) Stewart.
