Sylinda Lorraine
Elizabeth Vallandingham
Furnished by
Janie Drake. (Sallie Jane Bowsher
Drake)
Sylinda was my maternal Grandmother.
This is a photo of my grandmother at 19. She was part Cherokee Indian.
Parents of Sylinda were
Richard and
Eliza Jane Hatcher Vallandingham.
who died when she was young and made her and Mosco orphans. They were early
farmers in Ester, Oklahoma.
I think that is
Pottawatomie County, and they are buried in Vista Cemetery,
Pottawatomie County
Here are early tin type photos of the two.

Richard Valandingham |
He was a redhead. From what I gather, from all the receipts, he must have been a VERY honest man who paid his bills early. The bankers and mercantile business people were more than glad to do business with him.
Below are some photos that are of Sylinda with her husband, James Clark Higgins, along with photos of their daughter and one son.

This is Sylinda and James with the old black Buick that
she didn't sell until 1966 when she got a new Buick that she
kept until she died.
