Marcell Bonneau Services Are Held
Purcell Pioneer Died in Los Angeles; Two Sons, Four Daughters Survive
Death claimed another in the ranks of Purcell
pioneers this week. Mr. Marcell Bonneau died Friday in Los Angeles,
Calif., at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Eldon Williams. Funeral
services were held here Tuesday morning at Our Lady of Victory church
with Father Louis Hugo reading the mass.
Mr. Bonneau was 82 years old at the time of his
death. He was born in Canada in 1857 and came to the United States when
he was 17; from Kansas he moved to Purcell about 1895. He was in
business here for more than 40 years, retiring from his furniture and
undertaking establishment in 1930. Sine that time he had made his home
with his daughters and sons, going to Los Angeles about six months ago.
Two sons and four daughters survive him. They are
Albert Bonneau of Ardmore, J.P. Bonneau of Ponca City; Mrs. Williams of
Los angeles, Mrs. H.M. Anderson of Ponca city, Miss Helen Bonneau of
Cleveland, Ohio, and Miss Marcelle Bonneau of Oklahoma City. Mrs.
Bonneau died about 24 years ago; one son, Paul, also preceded him in
death.
Casket bearers were John Kress, Ed Price, M.B.
Larran, F.J. Ferry, John Boudreau and Luis Groothouse. Interment was
made in Hillside cemetery with the Yoakum funeral home in charge.
A large number of friends from over the state were
here for the services, especially from Ardmore, Norman and Oklahoma
city. A delegation of nurses from Oklahoma City attended. Both Miss
Helen and Miss Marcell Bonneau are graduate nurses. The latter was with
her father in Los Angeles.
