Stephen Boudreau

Stephen Boudreau Dies Saturday
On last Saturday morning at 8:30, Mr. Stephen
Boudreau, old time citizen of Purcell, died at his home after a long
and severe illness which had kept him bedfast for a number of weeks.
Mr. Boudreau suffered intensely during the last few weeks of his life
and could take very little nourishment, his trouble being some
affliction of the stomach. In spite of all medical aid and care, Mr.
Boudreau succumbed after a hard fight. He was 68 years old at the time
of his death.
Funeral services were conducted from the Catholic
church Monday morning at 9 o'clock by the Rev. Father Dieltjens where a
large concourse of friends attended the services. Interment was made in
Hillside cemetery.
Stephen Boudreau was born in the state of Illinois,
March 20, 1856 and died September 6, 1924 at the age of 68 years, 5
months and 16 days. He grew to manhood in Illinois later moving to
Kansas and in 1892 came to Oklahoma settling at Purcell soon after
coming to this state.
On coming to Purcell Mr. Boudreau entered the employ
of Mr. Blanchard in the Blanchard store where he clerked for a number
of years afterward taking up his trade as carpenter which he followed
until he became too feeble for active work.
Mr. Boudreau was married to Miss Josephine Boudreau
in Illinois before leaving that state and nine children were born to
this union who survive his as follows: Mrs. Joe Marquis, Mrs. John
Price, Mrs. Chas. Anhalt, Mrs. Ernest Knox, Mrs. J.O. Lewis, Mrs. Carl
Garrett, Emile Boudreau, Leo Boudreau and Louis Boudreau. The wife Mrs.
Josephine Boudreau also survives him.
In the death of Mr. Boudreau, Purcell has lost a
good citizen, one of the pioneers of the town. He was a faithful member
of the Catholic church here. The Register joins with the many friends
in extending its sympathy to the bereaved members of the family and
other relatives.
