J.R. Cardinal Buried Tuesday
A Rosary service for John Raphel Cardinal, 97,
Purcell, was held Monday evening of this week in the Conner chapel,
with Father John O'Brien officiating. The buriel service was conducted
Tuesday morning in Our Lady of Victory church and interment was in
Hillside cemetery.
Cardinal was born in Kansas, on Dec. 3, 1875, and
moved to this area in 1916 to engage in farming. He was a member of Our
Lady of Victory Catholic church. He died Jan. 12 in the Purcell
Municipal hospital following an extended illness.
He is survived by four sons, Albert of Wayne; Leo,
Manteca, Calif.; Armond of Moore; Leroy of Hobbs, N.M.; two daughters,
Helen Hon, Las Vegas, Nev.; Madeline Todd, Venice, Calif.; a sister,
Annie Dumas, Purcell and 14 grandchildren.
Pall bearers were Leo Cardinal, Jimmy Cardinal, John Bland, Henry Dumas, Clarence Dumas and A.L. Feroli.
