Alfred Curtright Dead
A telegram received here last night brought the news
that Alfred Curtright, who recently left here had met his death in the
mines at Galena, Kansas. His brother Guy left on the morning train for
that place. The following special to the Kansas City times gives all
that is yet known of the sad affair:
Galina, Kan, April 19 . . . Another fatal accident
occurred at the Goodeye mining plant on the south side ground this
evening about 5 o'clock. Alfred Curtright was sending out the dirt and
a tub had been hoisted about fifty feet, when a boulder feel out
striking Curtright on the head, at the bottom of the mine, causing
instant death. The top of his skull was completely cracked. He was a
single man and came to this city less than two weeks ago. His parents
reside in Paris, Mo., and are wealthy. They have been notified and are
now on their way to this city. As soon as they arrive his body will be
taken back with them for interment. Young Curtright's death is the
second that has occurred at the Goodeye mine within the past two weeks.
