PLATT NATIONAL PARK

1906  -  1976

SULPHUR, OKLAHOMA

The United States Congress established the Sulphur Springs Reservation on July 1, 1902.  On March 17th, 1976, Platt National Park was incorporated with the Arbuckle National Recreational Area and became the Chickasaw National Recreational Area.

The following stories were originally written by me in 2006 and published in weekly articles in the Sulphur (OK) Times Democrat newspaper as part of the 100th anniversary of Platt National Park, now part of the Chickasaw National Recreation Area.  The information in these articles were taken from official park records, reports and newspaper articles.  The information is copyrighted by me and is in book form with dozens of pictures dating from the 1890's. -- Dennis Muncrief
