Starr Cemetery is one of the more historical cemeteries in Northeastern Oklahoma.
Many of the Starr Family members are buried here. Sam Starr, Belle Starr's husband and a notorious outlaw
in his own right is buried here. Tom Starr, a rival to John Wesley Hardin, rests here as well. Tom is thought to have killed
over thirty men in his lifetime to avenge his father's murder. His father was killed in a dispute
between the Ridge Party and the Ross Faction concerning the signing of the treaty of 1835.
That treaty later led to what is known as "The Trail of Tears".
