Ted Smith was born January 13, 1888 in Des Arc, Prairie County, Arkansas and died January 8, 1961 in Antlers, Pushmataha County, Oklahoma.

Barbara Ellen Bunch was born July 22, 1900 at unknown location and died July 24, 2000 in Marshall, Harrison County, Texas. She lived to be 100 years and 2 days old.

Ted Smith moved to Porum with his mother Sinah (Wyatt) Smith sometime in the early 1900's. Ted's father William Luckey Smith had already died by that time. I know that they were there at least by 1912 because Sinah Smith was head of house in the 1912 Muskogee County School Census District 88 with daughter May Smith and grandson William Suitt. Ted Smith appeared as head of house in the 1913 Muskogee County School Census District 88 with nephew Willia Suitt. Then Sinah Smith was head of house for the 1915 Muskogee County School Census District 88 with daughter May Smith and grandson William Suitt. In the 1927 Muskogee County School Census District 88, Ted Smith appears as Jesse E. Smith with his first son Johnnie T. Smith. In The Phoenix City Directory 1916, Directory of Porum, Ted Smith is listed as Jesse E. Smith (Miller). He worked at the cotton mill there in Porum.

Barbara and Ted (Jesse E.) Smith had 2 children in Porum, Muskogee County, Oklahoma. They were John Tildon Smith and Eugene Smith. Eugene Smith died as a child at age 4 in Porum of diptheria. He was at least a couple of years younger than John, but I do not have his birthdate. Eugene Smith is buried there in Porum, but no one in the family knows exactly were. Ted Smith returned in the 1950's to show his family where Eugene was buried, but could not find where the site was. Eugene's grave was marked with just a rock, and Ted couldn't find any land markings that he could recognize.
