Lookup Volunteer -

Curtis Gilbert, a student at Frontier School and resident of Marland has offered to help do lookups. " I will do cemetery lookups in northern Noble Co. Cemeteries include Red Rock, Floral Ridge, Ceres, and Cowboy Hill.  I am very good at finding the right tombstones.  I help my Mom all the time.  She will take me to the cemeteries.  If there are other cemeteries in the area that we don't know about, we will search them too.  My Mom and I are going to try to record all of the cemeteries in this area when the weather cools off.  Please tell them that I would love to do look ups for anyone that wants".   curtiswg@webtv.net

Note: below Curtis and his mother, Steffanie Gilbert, also share their survey of Bressie Cemetery and Red Rock Cemetery. Their work is much appreciated.

Bressie Cemetery
located near the old community of Bressie. approx. 5 miles east of
highway 77 @ the Marland turn off. It is on the south side of the road.
This cemetery is on the east side of  large hill.  It is completely
overgrown with tall prarie grass and weeds.  There is a very nice gate
at the entrance and is easily seen from the road.  The gate has large
letters "BRESSIE CEMETERY"  you enter at the low end of the cemetery at
the far northwest corner. We found that most of the cemetery is unused
or unmarked or most likely both.  Information is taken exactly from
stones.  Info in parenthesis are my personal notes.  I am not related to
anyone known to be in this cemetery  surveyed Oct. 13, 1999 by Stefanie
Gilbert and Curtis Gilbert

Starting in the "upper" N E corner at the rear of the cemetery moving
along the fence from N to S

(All of these stones are  surrounded by the same cement curb, and the
area has been graveled at some time.  We could find no other stones or obvious signs of graves in the cemetery, but there is enough room for 8 to 10 more rows.  Possibly, if not,
probably many more graves.)

Additional information:

Note in the plot in Bressie Cemetery for Joseph and Ellen (Bearly)
Kirk......there are children of Leota (Kirk) Golay buried there
apparently without headstones...

This from pp. 66 of the book  "Descendants of Alphonsus and Abigail Kirk".
I went to school with Sharon Golay in Ponca City who I believe was Leota's
granddaughter..
