Thompson B. Ferguson
Thompson B. Ferguson was born near Des Moines, Iowa, in 1857. During his childhood, his parents moved to Chautauqua County, Kansas, where he attended the public schools. He attended the State Normal School at Emporia, Kansas, after which he engaged in educational work. He settled at Watonga, Blaine County, when the Cheyenne and Arapaho country was thrown open to settlement, in 1892, where he engaged in the newspaper business. From 1897 to 1901, he served as postmaster at Watonga. After his retirement from the governorship, he resumed the active charge of the publication of the Watonga Republican. In 1907, he was the republican nominee for Congress from his district, but was defeated in the election. He died February 14, 1921, and is buried in Watonga.
