Frank Frantz
Frank Frantz was born at Roanoke, Illinois, May 7 1872. He was educated in the public schools of his native state and spent two years as a student in Eureka College. He settled at Enid, Oklahoma, in September, 1893. Afterward, he engaged in mining in Arizona, from where he entered the volunteer military service as a lieutenant of the 1st United States Volunteer Cavalry (Roosevelt's Rough Riders) at the outbreak of the Spanish-American War, in 1898. He was promoted to the grade of captain while in Cuba. In 1901, he was appointed postmaster at Enid. In 1903, he was appointed Agent for the Osage Indians. He served as governor of Oklahoma Territory from January 5, 1906, until the inauguration of the state government, November 16, 1907. He then moved to Bartlesville, where he lived out his life as an oilman. He died Marcy 9, 1941. He was a republican.
