Jack Callaway Walton

Jack C. Walton was born near Indianapolis, Indiana, on March 6, 1881. He grew up on a farm. In 1897 he joined the United States Army. After mustering out, he moved to Mexico where he lived until coming to Oklahoma in 1903, where he resided in Oklahoma City. He was a sales engineer by profession. He served as Commissioner of Public Works, Mayor of Oklahoma City, and was elected fifth Governor of the State in 1922 and was impeached within the year. He served from January 8, to November 19, 1923. He then served in the State Corporation Commission until he went into the private practice of law. He died in Oklahoma City on November 25, 1949, and is buried in the Rose Hill Cemetery in Oklahoma City.
