Funeral services will be held this afternoon at the Martin cemetery at 2:30, Rev A L Pipes, of the Church of God, conducting the service. Interment will be in the Martin cemetery, beside the mother of deceased, who passed away when the daughter was a baby. Surviving are the husband, L E (Lloyd) Paxton, who is being held in the Seminole county jail pending an investigation of the woman’s death, a son Calvin Eben, age 6, father, L L Brown (Louis LaForce Brown), and four brothers, Eben W, Lonnie H, Occie H, and Louie M. Deceased was a native of Nowata county and had resided here continuously until about three weeks ago when the family moved to Earlsboro, where Paxton was employed in the oil fields. Definite information regarding the tragedy was not obtainable Saturday, but it was stated that Paxton and his wife were attending a dance near their residence and in an altercation with another man, Paxton made a lunge at him with a knife, which struck his wife just below the knee. As it was probably an hour before a physician could be summoned to the scene, the woman lost a great amount of blood and this was given as the cause of her death. According to relatives of both Paxton and his wife, this appears to
be the most plausible account of the tragedy which they have been able
to obtain, as it was pointed out that if Paxton had intended to murder
his wife he would have selected a more vital spot than the knee to inflict
the knife wound. Paxton’s version of the affair, it is alleged,
coincides with the above, but he is being held by the Seminole authorities
