Leonard J. Baker

Rites for Leonard J. Baker, former prominent city construction man, will be Friday at 10:30 am in Smith & Kernke funeral home, with burial in Memorial Park Cemetery.

Baker, 59, died early Sunday in his home at Marathon, Fla. Born in Tecumseh, Neb., he came to Oklahoma as a child with his parents, the late Mr. and Mrs. W. P. Baker.

Before moving to Florida a few years ago, Baker was vice-president of Earl W. Baker & Co., and the Baker Industries. He was a past president of Associated General Contractors.

The retired construction man, a veteran of World War I, was a member of the American Legion, Guthrie consistory and India Shrine temple.

Friends who wish are asked to contribute to the Oklahoma City heart fund in lieu of sending flowers. Baker is survived by his wife, Laura E. of the home; two brothers, Earl W. Baker, 5901 NW 54, and H. D. Baker, Richmond, Calif.; two sisters, Mrs. Donald Baker, Tulsa, and Helen Baker, 1728 NW 40.
