L. A. Barber, Pioneer Oklahoman, Dies at Hospital Wednesday
Leman A. Barber, pioneer Oklahoma farmer, passed away Wednesday at the
Polyclinic hospital at Oklahoma City, at the age of 76 years. Funeral services
will be conducted at 3 p.m. Friday from the First Methodist Church of this city,
Rev. John Callan and Rev. J. A. McLaughlin officiating. Baggerley Funeral
directors will have charge of the arrangements. Burial is to be at
Grace Lawn
Cemetery.
Mr. Barber was born in Peoria, Ill., June 13, 1858. He was united in marriage to
Dora E. Langford at Eldoria, Iowa, February 22, 1893. To this union twelve
children were born, ten of whom survive.
In 1900 Mr. Barber brought his family to Oklahoma, settling on a farm 10 miles
southwest of Edmond where they lived until eight years ago when they moved to
Edmond.
He joined the Methodist church early in life and proved to be a loyal and
faithful member. Mr. Barber was a man loved by all who knew him, and made
friends wherever he went. He was a member of the Odd Fellows Lodge.
He leaves his wife, Mrs. L. A. Barber; two brother, Elmer and Frank of Edmond;
six sons, Henry of Yukon, Harry, Charles, Howard, Herbert and Walter, all of
Edmond, four daughters, Mrs. A. C. Gullett of Edmond, Mrs. Wesley Newman of
Duncan, Mrs. Clarence Boling and Rubye of Edmond, and 24 grandchildren.

MRS. DORA BARBER
EDMOND—Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday in First Methodist Church for Mrs. Dora
Emmaline Barber, 88, who died Wednesday in her home.
Burial will be in Gracelawn Cemetery. Born in Michigan, she came to Oklahoma in 1900, settling west of Edmond and moving into Edmond in 1926. She was a member of the First Melodist Church.
Survivors include six sons, Henry, Herbert and Howard, all of Edmond, Harry of Big Cabin, Charlie, of Britton, Walter, of 1421 SW 13; four daughters, Mrs. Nellie Gilbert, of Gentry, Ark , Mrs. Pearl Newman of Duncan, Mrs. Ruth Boling of Adair, Mrs. Ruby McDaniel of Edmond, one brother and one sister, 37 grandchildren, 68 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
